Karamjal
Karamjal is situated on the banks of Pasur river, about eight kilometers from Mongla. There are various species of animals including crocodiles, deer, monkeys. It houses the country’s only natural crocodile breeding center with wooden trails and towers. There are deer breeding centers and observation towers. Here you will see baby crocodiles and numerous monkeys. Red crabs will run on the ground. The waves of the river will break the banks on the mangrove roots. Interestingly, there are three ponds here for fresh water.
Kataka
Cuttack Sanctuary is located on the western side of the Sundarbans Purva Sanctuary on the lap of the sea. Here the natural environment can be enjoyed from the resting place built under the shade of dense banani and the waves of the rough sea. In the afternoon, when the sun goes down, the deer come closer. The group of monkeys no longer have day and night! Maybe you can see the sight of crocodiles sunbathing on the river bank.
Cuttack falls within the range of tigers, but the number of tigers has decreased so much that spotting tigers is only a matter of luck. There is an observation tower for forest viewing and a 4-bed rest house for accommodation. Cuttack to Mangla is about 112 km. It takes about 8 to 10 hours. Jamtala is near Katka. It is located on the bank of a small canal crossing Katka canal. A wildlife watch tower has been constructed here to attract tourists. A herd of deer can be seen from the tower.
Sometimes, due to the fear of tigers or any other reason, they disappear in a moment in the deep forest. Jamtala canal is about 1 km long so can be enjoyed by small boats. But there is also a fear of crocodiles. Kachikhali is built with rows of palm trees and coconut groves along the sea shore at the eastern southern end of the East Sundarbans Sanctuary, along with a pleasant rest house. It has 3 1 bed and 1 2 bed rooms and drawing and dining room. Tourists come here hoping to see tigers. But these days there are tiger fairs near the locality. Kachikhali distance from Mangala is 106 km if deer hides in the white flower bend of Kashban. A seasonal fish market is held in Kochikhali from October to March.
Badamtala
Badamtala between Kachikhali and Katka. Badamtala Beach is very secluded, beautiful and a bit scary. In winter there is a chance to see tigers on this beach, at least the footprints of tigers can be seen. Another thing is that one can walk here from Jamtala or Kachikhali, in that case there is risk, but one can be careful by following the rules. Local forest people come here to collect hay in winter season.
Tinkona Island Tinkona Island has become a new familiar to Sundarbans travelers. Deer monkeys can be seen at this place located at the confluence of Pasur and Mar Pasur rivers. Many people also come here to see tigers. There is a patrol outpost of the Forest Department at Kokilmoni near Tinkona Island. The foragers of Dubla sometimes halt here.
Dublar Char
Dublar Char It is situated on the lap of the sea covered with snow-white flowers and green grass. Fishermen stay here for six months of the year and risk their lives in small native boats to catch fish in the sea. The cultural programs held by the fishermen during their free time in this fishing village are very enjoyable. Tourists witness the drying process here.
You can also see the life of the prison very closely. This place is famous for Rasmela. Dublar Char is 90 km from Mangla. There are 4 cyclone centers and several fresh water ponds due to human settlement. Hilsa is available from the char of Dubla in monsoon. Thousands of pilgrims from far and wide come to the Ras Mela during the Ras Purnima fair in the month of Kartik. The Ras Mela lasts for 3 days.
Mandarbaria
The distance of Hiran Point from Khulna is about 120 km. Mandarbaria is one of the most important and scenic places to visit within the Sundarbans and is known for tiger sightings. Sundarbans is located in the western southern part of the Bay of Bengal and the view of sunrise and sunset here is a special attraction for tourists. Patani Island is located near Mandarbaria, from a distance it looks like a piece of green rock floating in the Bay of Bengal. There are tigers, deer, monkeys, turtles, snakes, crabs, crocodiles and birds. And the wild, quiet and beautiful beach can be a chance to see turtles basking in the sun in winter.
Hiran Point or Nilkamal
Hiran Point or Nilkamal Sanctuary is a beautiful Nilkamal Sanctuary in the southern forest of the river near the shores of the Nilkamal Sagar. There are office buildings of the sanctuary decorated in blue colors, forest staff quarters, picnic spots. The place is named Neelkamal after the name of Neelkamal canal. Deer can be seen here in the morning. They come here to drink water in the pond. There is also a tower here. Crocodiles can be seen in the river here at any time.
Shekertek
There is a temple about 400 years old, ruins of Shekherbari and traces of houses on some high places. Situated in the forest on the banks of the Shivsa river is the Shekhartek temple which is made of small bricks, lime and mortar. There are many stories about it.
Harbaria
Harbaria has become an excellent tourist spot for returning day after day to see the Sundarbans. It takes 2 to 3 hours to travel from Mangla to Harbaria by trawler. At the confluence of Pasur River and Harbaria Canal, some tourist attractions have been constructed near the Harbaria patrol post.
Bangabandhu Island
Bangabandhu Island is the last point of Sundarbans before Putney Island. The vast beaches of the deserted island will fill your mind. There are few trees here. There are deer. The tigers haven’t gone there yet. It has the potential to become an attractive tourist destination in the future. Because Putni Island and Bangabandhu Island have wide and clean sandy beaches. Khalpetua
If you continue along the banks of the Sundarbans and along the Kholpetua river, you will see deer and monkeys. Kholpetua river has provided daily livelihood to the people of this region. Estimated travel cost in Sundarbans

- Government travel fee per person per day for forest area is 150 taka for domestic tourists, 30 TK for students.

- Cost for security guards is tk 300, launch crew is tk 70, telecommunications cost is tk 200.
- Domestic tourists have to pay a fee of 200 taka and foreign tourists have to pay a fee of 300 taka for using the video camera.
- Ras Purnima fair is held in Sundarbans. During this period the fee for pilgrims for 3 days is fifty rupees per person. Registered trawler fee is 200 taka , unregistered trawler fee is 800 taka and trawler fee is 200 taka per day.
Transportation from Dhaka
Transportation-1
Bus, train and launch are available from Dhaka. From Sayedabad, Gabtali to Sohag, Hanif and Eagle buses leave for Khulna between 6 AM and 11 PM daily. It takes about 8 hours (approximately) to reach Khulna by road from Dhaka.
Transportation-2
There are various companies launching from Dhaka’s Sadarghat launch terminal to Khulna. If you want to see the Sundarbans travel spots from Khulna, you have to go to Mongla, 50 km away. There are private cars and buses from Khulna to Mongla. From Mongla Ghat, you can rent a trawler or launch and return to Khulna after exploring the Karamjal of the Sundarbans area in 2/3 hours.
How to travel to Sundarbans?
If you want to travel inside the Sundarbans, you must pay a fixed fee from the Forest Office and travel with a security guard. Alone or in a group, one cannot go to the forest without permission.
It is best to go with a tour operator because of the permits, rules, costs and complicated process involved in touring the Sundarbans. Their package includes all expenses from boarding the ship to full transportation, food and drink, forest department permit, safety guide.
